Metasphere tackles urgent issue of water leakage
Metasphere Commercial Director Phil Tomlinson will be hosting a roundtable discussion entitled ‘Networks and Leakage Action Plan’ today (Friday 22nd Nov) at Tomorrow’s Water, British Water’s annual conference. The event, attended by senior figures from across the global water industry and held in Canary Wharf, follows last night’s reception at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London whose keynote speaker was Cate Lamb, head of Water Security at CDP, the non-profit organisation that helps business and cities worldwide measure and understand their environmental impact. On the agenda for Tomorrow’s Water are the pressing topics of resilience, the circular economy and global responsibility, including a panel discussion on how the world is ‘getting ready for tomorrow’s water’. Mr Tomlinson’s roundtable talk on Friday will address head-on the pressing question: ‘What steps are required to reach the Ofwat 15% water leakage reduction target and hold utility companies accountable to make these changes now?’ Other urgent topics to be covered in a total of 12 roundtable discussions at the conference include the issues of climate adaptation and catchment management; the meaning of resilience; how to let data do the work; the quest for an effective water cycle; and the urgent need to rid our waterways of micro-plastics and micro-pollutants. Attending the conference will be representatives from SABESP and Iguá (Brazil), Rean (India) and Department for International Trade commercial officers from China and Iraq, as well as UK-based international stakeholders.
