Wastewater quality monitoring is a pressing issue motivated by the increasing environmental and societal need for cleaner water and to comply with legal requirements. It is essential that treated water when released into the environment is does no harm. This can only be achieved by accurately monitoring the various parameters that are critical to the water treatment process. These parameters include dissolved oxygen levels, pH, nitrate levels, ammonia levels, and suspended solids. Traditionally these are assessed using remote sampling and laboratory analysis.
