Gas networks need robust and reliable monitoring at District Governors to report network pressures, as well as extremity points for security of supply and validation points for network modelling.
Accurate data allows for:
District Gas Governors facilitate the reduction of intermediate and medium gas pressure feeding the Local Transmission System (LTS) to a low pressure that is usable and safe.
Point Blue RTU can interface with various pressure transducers currently on the market. External pressure transducers are widely used within the oil and gas industries, and connecting Point Blue to one enables the detection of changes in pressure to be monitored in near real-time. At a District Governor the inlet and outlet pressures are monitored, and digital inputs monitor the Slam Shut and DP Filter of the working stream.
Point Blue provides dynamic trending; it logs data every 15 minutes (user-configurable) and feeds this back daily, directly to the top-end system, ensuring both data privacy and speed, with no additional latency. Under alarm conditions it can be configured to capture, dial in and transfer the data much more frequently (eg. once an hour or less) once the pre-set alarm threshold is reached: ‘high high’, ‘high or low’, ‘low low’. This can be reported, enabling a proactive approach to the status of the gas network while only calling upon Point Blue’s battery power when it is most needed.
Metasphere’s Point Blue can also monitor pressure at Pressure Reduction Stations (PRS), at Local Distribution Zones (LDZ) Offtakes / City Gates, at Extremity Points, at Network Validation Points and many more places.
