Weather monitoring plays an important part in almost every aspect of life. At Metasphere we have integrated a number of leading combined weather sensors with our battery powered logging and telemetry units, in order to provide easy-to-deploy weather monitoring systems that cover many of the main parameters required for climatic observations through to weather information for safety critical operations.
Point Colour can connect to combined weather sensors using a number of serial protocols such as SDI-12 or Modbus, or via discrete analogue outputs. The measurement data is stored locally and transmitted back to Palette or the client’s own data platform, at intervals determined by the client.
The Point Colour RTUs also report on exception in operationally-critical situations. When a pre-set level threshold is exceeded, an alarm is sent. The RTUs can be configured also to dial in and transfer the data more frequently when in the ‘alarm’ state. This allows the weather event to be captured and the Point Colour’s battery power called upon when it is most needed. In addition to combined weather stations, Point Colour can also provide discrete monitoring solutions for specific weather parameters such as: wind speed and direction, air temperature, air pressure and humidity, precipitation, solar radiation, soil moisture, and soil and ground temperature.
